RUGBY FIRST CHOOSE MOTOTRBO WIDE AREA DIGITAL UPGRADE IMPROVES THE TOWN CENTRE’S FIGHT AGAINST CRIME & PUBLIC ORDER
The Rugby First BID team had persisted with their ageing analogue radio system, but they knew the time had come for it to be upgraded, most critically they needed to improve the retailer’s safety where the poor signal was hindering their ShopNet and Pubwatch scheme.
They wanted to take advantage of the technological advancements. The brief was to supply a turnkey solution to satisfy the present and future demands but within a tight budget. The new system needed to be capable of providing greater coverage and clarity, while giving improvements on operational monitoring and significantly improving on security for all the users.
To overcome busy channels, real-time communication was imperative while the need to enhance further the way they recorded voice transmissions also had to be addressed.
RUGBY FIRST BID RADIO SYSTEM BACKGROUND
As the second largest town in the UK, Rugby BID had a vast area to cover throughout the Town Centre and outlying Retail Centres to over 200 users.
The Rugby First scheme links Retailers in the Town, Rangers, Local Police and the CCTV operators via two-way radios to allow them to exchange information and keep the area a safer place to shop.
After trialling numerous manufacturers, the team decided upon MOTOTRBO™, specifically chosen as it not only delivered excellent performance on site tests but also for its cost-effective applications that provided comprehensive recording features round the clock for their CCTV operators.
