Located in Chelmsford, Essex the High School currently houses over 1500 pupils, leading the way with their dynamic teaching policies of teaching boys and girls separately at KS3, but at the same time giving them the opportunity to mix and develop socially together.
The Brief
Unfortunately, the Analogue radio system employed old technology, patchy coverage and missed messages were a daily event and couldn’t provide the level of sophistication required to ensure communication fail-safes were in place. To make sure that staff were protected throughout their working day Matt Kimber from Moulsham High School, Health and Safety Department turned to the Motorola Solutions MOTOTRBO™ Range. The brief was to provide a two-way radio solution that would offer reliability, instant communication and while being future proof.
As DCRS worked through the site testing the product it became apparent that two tiers of portables were required for ease of usability. The team agreed upon the MOTOTRBO™ DP4800 and MOTOTRBO™ DP1400 Digital two-way radios with an emergency button which was rolled out to the teachers, administrators, estates and H & S Team.
Advanced Programming
With individual groups programmed all users simply switch between groups on their handset to communicate their message to the required member of staff. The team also took advantage of some of the advanced programming features available on the MOTOTRBO™ DP4800 including; Individual calling, text messaging, radio check, enable/disable, transmit interrupt and remote monitor.
“MOTOTRBO™ has simplified the process of communication throughout the whole school allowing them to react to an instruction or a situation immediately”, Ash Robinson, Account Manager.
